2026 TnBAA Aviation Maintenance Scholarship

Overview

The Tennessee Business Aviation Association (TnBAA) is committed to fostering the growth and development of future professionals in business aviation. For 2026, TnBAA is proud to offer scholarships specifically supporting students pursuing careers in business aviation maintenance.

These scholarships are intended to help students pursuing their FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate further their training and prepare for careers within Tennessee’s business aviation industry.

Award Amount (2026): Four (4) scholarships of $2,500 each

Eligibility Criteria

• Residency/Enrollment: Applicants must meet one of the following:

• • Be a current resident of Tennessee who is enrolled in or accepted to an FAA-certificated Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School located in or outside Tennessee, OR

  • Be enrolled in or accepted to an FAA-certificated Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School located in Tennessee. Residency outside Tennessee is permitted, provided the applicant demonstrates an intent to remain in Tennessee after completing their training and support the growth of its business aviation industry.

• Program: Must be enrolled in or accepted to an FAA-certificated Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School and pursuing training toward an FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate.

• Academic Standing: Current students must be in good academic standing with their school.

• Tennessee Business Aviation: Applicants must demonstrate an intent to pursue a career in business aviation maintenance in Tennessee upon completion of their training.

Application Requirements

• A completed TnBAA Scholarship Application form.

• Proof of Tennessee residency for applicants qualifying as Tennessee residents (e.g., driver's license or student ID).

• Proof of current enrollment or acceptance into an FAA-certificated Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School.

• Academic records or other documentation confirming good standing for applicants currently enrolled.

• A personal statement or essay detailing the applicant’s interest and aspirations in business aviation maintenance (not exceeding 500 words). Applicants should describe why they chose aviation maintenance, their career goals within business aviation, their plans to pursue a career in Tennessee, and how this scholarship will support their path.

• At least one letter of recommendation from an instructor, employer, or professional in the aviation industry.

Benefits to Recipients

• One of four $2,500 scholarships for educational expenses, paid directly to the recipient’s FAA-certificated Part 147 school.

• 12-month student membership to TnBAA.

• Invitation to attend at least one TnBAA meeting or event during the year.

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a dedicated Scholarship Selection Committee appointed by TnBAA. Up to four recipients will be chosen based on their personal statement, demonstrated commitment to a career in business aviation maintenance, intent to work in Tennessee, academic standing, and potential contributions to Tennessee’s business aviation industry.

TnBAA reserves the right to award fewer than four scholarships if the applicant pool does not include four candidates who meet the scholarship criteria.
